Many of the protocols utilized in today’s physical therapy environment were in use thirty years ago. Many more have changed or evolved. At Nassau Rehabilitation & Sports Therapy, we draw upon three decades of experience and the valuable knowledge we’ve acquired successfully treating thousands of patients. Our expertise and commitment to remaining current allows us to sustain a level of treatment that is consistently on the clinical cutting edge.

At Nassau Rehabilitation & Sports Therapy, physical therapy begins with peace of mind. An inviting, relaxed environment, caring therapists, and spacious, private treatment rooms create an atmosphere where pain and inflammation can be managed and reduced in preparation for therapeutic exercise.

Our modern exercise facility is equipped with the most advanced workout stations, and always monitored by our team of exercise specialists. Once an accurate diagnosis has been determined, a professional clinician will combine different exercise disciplines to create the proper therapy for Physical Therapy each patient. Isokinetics, for example, allows the patient to exercise in a pain-free range. Plyometrics, isotonic and eccentric exercises utilize weights to condition and strengthen. The proper balance of exercises is critical to many programs, particularly for seniors. Endurance training is also a large part of every training regimen.

Nav Line Your feet are your body’s foundation.

Orthotics is a generic term describing the use of a footwear apparatus that supports, aligns, protects and corrects deformities of the foot. Quite often, by changing the way a patient walks, we can correct dysfunction and pain in other areas of the body.

When people walk abnormally, the result can manifest itself as pain and limited range of motion in the ankle, knee, hips and lower back. Orthotic devices can actually change the way we support our bodies as we walk, thereby eliminating the painful dysfunction that is transmitted to other joints.

During the initial examination in our office, patients are frequently asked to walk a short distance so we can evaluate lower extremity flexibility and alignment. If a distinct pathology is suspected, orthotics may be recommended as a treatment for pain that patients may not release is related to the foot. Many of our patients have dramatically improved their quality of life with a basic orthotic device, which we can fit, design and finish right on the premises.

Mr. Safalow is not only a certified Pedorthist (orthotic specialist), but has studied and written extensively on the subject of orthotics.
