Nassau Rehabilitation & Sports Therapy overview
Nav Line Our philosophy of healing and personal care.

Nassau Rehabilitation is not a large, imposing institution. Each of our patients is important to us, and we serve them with courtesy, respect, consideration and, above all, a high level of professionalism.

We understand that a physical disability, and its associated pain and lifestyle restrictions, can sometimes create anxiety. That is why we provide a hygienic, stress-free, and relaxed environment to treat your injury and set you on the road to recovery. Our décor is comfortable and inviting, and our treatment rooms offer complete privacy.
Overview
Our staff of expert therapists and exercise specialists are among the finest in the New York Metropolitan area. Their strong, gentle hands, and caring nature, will help you work toward a speedy recovery. Most importantly, our Director is always on premises to offer advice, lend support and discuss your progress.

Welcome to the Nassau Rehabilitation & Sports Therapy Family.

Nav Line Knowledgeable minds. Strong, caring hands.

During your first visit to Nassau Rehabilitation & Sports Therapy, our friendly front office staff will expedite your paperwork and answer any questions concerning treatment and insurance coverage.

You will be introduced to Arthur Safalow (P.T., C. Ped.), the Director of Nassau Rehabilitation. Mr. Safalow will discuss your case at length, and give you a detailed tour of the facility.

You will then undergo a full physical assessment during which your background and lifestyle will be evaluated, including occupational and recreational considerations. Your physician’s recommendations are recorded and, for post-surgical patients, diagnostic data and surgical notes thoroughly reviewed. This comprehensive evaluation will help determine the exact extent of your disability, and any accompanying pain and loss of function.

Once the Director determines the extent of your physical limitations, he will customize a program that optimizes your time with us. Passive treatment modalities such as interferential currents, infrared, and ultrasound soft tissue massage will precede therapeutic exercises. To complete the regimen, a custom exercise program will be provided for your continuing treatment at home.

Education and communication are as important to successful rehabilitation as a treatment regimen. At Nassau Rehabilitation & Sports Therapy, we want you to understand why you need physical therapy, as well as how your body should function correctly.

Nav Line Do the research before you do the work.

It is important to understand that your physician’s recommendation for a physical therapy center is just that — a recommendation. You have the right to determine which center is right for you.

Choosing a facility based on competency of staff, convenience of location, and the experience to perform every facet of your therapeutic protocol correctly and efficiently is critical to your rehabilitation. From the outset, dealing properly with pre-operative and post-operative conditions requires a great deal of skill. Performing the wrong treatment at the wrong time may either negate the surgical procedure, or prolong disability and pain.

The bottom line: it is your body. Weigh your choices carefully, and you will be able to make the best decision for your particular needs.

Nav Line We get the most benefit out of
your insurance coverage.

Understanding and implementing each insurance company’s plan is critically important in order to maximize our patients benefits. Nassau Rehabilitation & Sports Therapy will structure an office visitation schedule combined with a home exercise program that takes advantage of every allowable visit. More often than not, a patient will require more therapy time than is provided for by their insurance company. That is why Nassau Rehabilitation & Sports Therapy offers an Aftercare Program to help the patients continue therapy after insurance coverage has expired.

Nassau Rehabilitation & Sports Therapy is a preferred provider, and works with most major managed care providers including Aetna, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Blue Choice, CIGNA Health Plans, HIP, Empire Plan, Oxford Health Plans, Physician Health Services, Vytra, United Health and many others. We also welcome worker’s compensation and no-fault patients.

When I arrived at your facility my shoulder was immobilized and in constant pain. You and your dedicated staff showed me how diligent exercise and a positive attitude can overcome any disability. After a few short months I have dramatically increased my range of motion, and I am finally free of pain.
