What is physical therapy?
Physical therapy is the practice of helping people restore and maintain optimal physical function after an injury or illness.

Do I have to go to the rehabilitation facility my doctor prescribes?
No. You are free to decide where you want to receive your rehabilitation. Consider the factors that are important to you before making a decision and know you may change facilities at any time.

How long will my therapy last?
There is no set length of time. That depends on your physician’s and therapist’s recommendations, as well as the facility you choose, the ability of its staff, insurance coverage and your personal response to therapy.

What types of treatments are available?
  • Physical assessment and evaluation
  • Joint and muscle evaluation
  • Sports physical therapy and rehabilitation
  • Rehabilitation of genetic abnormalities of the joints
  • Rehabilitation of malfunction due to illness or advancing age
  • Custom molded orthotics to correct foot and ankle dysfunctions
  • Isokinetics, plyometrics, isotonic and eccentric exercises
  • Passive treatment modalities: interferential currents, infrared, ultrasound soft tissue massage, diathermy and hydrotherapy
  • Endurance training
  • Customized exercise programs & supervised gym training
  • Aftercare Program
  • Assistance with the acquisition of rehabilitation aids such as braces, walkers, and home exercise equipment

Do you prescribe medication?
No.

What happens if my insurance carrier declines further coverage, but I still need additional rehabilitation?
At Nassau Rehabilitation & Sports Therapy you can continue your treatment even if your insurance company no longer provides coverage. For more information click here.

Can I work out in your gym, even though I am not receiving rehabilitation from you?
Yes. The gym is available for supervised, non-rehabilitative use. For more information on our supervised gym program, click here.

How long are your rehabilitation sessions?
Generally sessions range from an hour to an hour and a half in duration.

Is Nassau Rehabilitation & Sports Therapy wheelchair accessible?

Why Should I Use A Custom Foot Orthosis?
A foot orthosis works to compensate for factors that lessen the foot's ability to function normally. Because it performs inside the shoe, it's normally invisible to everyone except the wearer. A custom foot orthosis is designed to fit a specific foot for a particular purpose.

Where Do People Take Pedorthic Prescriptions?
To a certified pedorthist (C.Ped.). At Nassau Rehabilitation & Sports Therapy,
